This web-based 12-week program answers these questions one by one.

Pre-Award

  • Week 1: How do I increase my influence with stakeholders and manage power plays?
  • Week 2: How do I choose/respond to the sourcing/acquisition approach and contract type?
  • Week 3: How do I write/revise/respond to requirements (SOW and Performance Metrics)?
  • Week 4: How do I choose the right pricing mechanisms (i.e. fixed fee, cost pass through etc.). And, how do I prepare to effectively negotiation price?
  • Week 5: How do I identify, analyze and document risk?

Award

  • Week 6: How do I master price negotiations to preserve value? And, how do I effectively make tradeoffs in complex negotiations?
  • Week 7: How do I increase my influence with my negotiation counterpart? And, how do I effectively use my leverage?
  • Week 8: How do I use and manage tactics? And, how do I effectively develop a negotiation strategy?
  • Week 9: How do I efficiently and effectively redline a complex contract and take issues to stakeholders for approval?

Post-award

  • Week 10: How do I effectively monitor, manage and govern a complex relationship? And, how do I insert a change control process to into the contract?
  • Week 11: How do I more effectively resolve disputes?
  • Week 12: The end: How do I track lessons learned, terminate a relationship early and develop an orderly exit plan?

The 12-week program includes these four parts:

  1. 12 targeted training videos/webinars,
  2. 25+ tools such as checklists and spreadsheets,
  3. 12 live weekly Q&A and coaching sessions, and
  4. A comprehensive manual.

What to Expect During the 12-Week On-line Course

Each Friday for 12 consecutive weeks you will receive by 12 noon (aligned with your time zone) a link to download that week’s:

  • Video webinar,
  • The corresponding Contract Professional’s Playbook chapter,
  • Corresponding tool(s), and
  • Link to join the live Q&A coaching session for the following week Friday at 9 am Pacific Time.

Please watch each video to understand the topic and tips on how to use the tools. Your homework for the week will be to use the tool(s) or find and use a similar tool at your organization.

At the end of the 12 weeks you will have received 12 on-line training videos/webinars, all 21 chapters in the Contract Professional’s Playbook, all 25+ tools, and attendance at and recording for the 12 live Q&A and coaching sessions.

How to Use the Tools to Complete Homework

Each week I will assign some homework. The homework will be to use that week’s tool(s) in your daily work. For example, you will complete a Stakeholder Analysis, or the Risk Monitoring Tool, or Scorecard.

How to Prepare for the Live Q&A Sessions

Each week on the following Friday at 9 am Pacific Time zone, I will host a live Q&A and coaching session to cover the previous week’s topic and tool(s). Each session will last for 60 minutes and will be recorded. At the end of the day, you will receive a link to recording to the live session.

These sessions have a specific agenda.

  • 5-minute overview of the topic (highlights only),
  • 5-minute overview of the tool(s) being discussed (image and highlights),
  • 10-minute case study demonstrating how the tool(s) were used, and
  • 40 minutes to answer your questions and provide coaching.

I encourage you to following along in The Contract Professional’s Playbook as you proceed through the 12-week eLearning program. Use the manual if you prefer to read than watch a video, to write in any notes and/or questions you might have, and to help complete the homework.
